Collectively the images reference the symbiotic relationship between those that design and maintain our cities’ pathways, and those that utilize them daily. The fissures in the cement have formed out of stigmetric systems: gradually breaking under the combined pressure of human tread, enterprising insect colonies, and resilient shoots. A cycle begins, creating a feedback loop of construction, decay and maintenance in which the object as a knowable whole undergoes a mutation, becoming a fragmented network of meaning-in-development.
